Southern Road Trip

This year, my family spent Thanksgiving in South Carolina. My grandma passed away this year so my mom and my aunt have been doing a lot with her house. We got to spend a lot of time with my cute grandpa and eat my moms amazing pumpkin pie. Winning all around. It was pretty low key but we did see Daddy’s Home for the second time and I absolutely love it. I tried to see it again this week but Lyle has cut me off haha. After everyone headed back we spent a couple days heading down to Savannah and coming up through Beaufort and Charleston and it was a lot of fun until we cut it short because we weren’t feeling well. Most of my pictures are of beautiful homes and buildings. My “dream life” is down South and I was just in heaven. I first read about Beaufort in a Southern Living article years ago and I’ve been saving homes there on Zillow ever since. There is the most perfect neighborhood I have ever seen in my life and Lyle was nice enough to let me drive around in it for like an hour (I kid you not). Who doesn’t love a wrap around porch though?! A lot of our plans didn’t go accordingly this year because of so many things but I am glad I got to see more of the South.

I also shared some Christmas pictures I took for my sisters. It was kind of last minute and they really wanted to do them in front of my Grandma’s door but I think they turned out great.

Wormsloe Historic Site. I am pretty sure we have this exact picture at a place like this in Charleston but the trees down there are so dreamy.DSC_0998 DSC_1001

This little honey store was one of my absolute favorites! You can sample everything and I walked away with some for me and some for my dad for Christmas- we both LOVE honey.1230

reason enough to move to the South. Served warm and gooey these cinnamon roll biscuits were life changing. They also have amazing blueberry ones. From Bojangles or “Bobos”…what I screamed out every couple miles when we saw one. <3

Skellig Michael Island

The fact that we got tickets to Skellig Island was pretty much a miracle actually. We found out maybe three days before that there was an opening for two on one of the days that we would be in the area. When we finally found out it wasn’t the easiest decision because we had already spent a good amount of money on our broadway tickets and some other things we planned. When I told Lyle he was like you have to go, this could be your only chance, so then we jumped on it. Last time I was in Ireland was with Lyle and it was late October and the tours go from April until October.  You won’t be able to go out to Skellig any other time unfortunately because of the weather. For frequently asked questions and eco tour tickets you can book here. The locals kept telling us good luck when we would tell them we didn’t have tickets yet because they were booked out of a year in advance. With the eco tour you take a boat out and just circle the island which is still really cool but it is a pretty long boat ride out to the island so being able to get off the boat and walk around the beautiful island is necessary. Haven’t booked your Skellig trip yet and you leave soon, well don’t worry just yet. First, search around. I emailed tons of different boating tours asking them to put me on the cancellation list. We got notified that there were two different places we could have gone on. The thing is, people book these so far in advance that things happen and I think there are a lot of last minute openings. Here is the email that I got lucky with-mooringsatbridgebar@gmail.com or skelligwalkercruises@gmail.com. If these still don’t work out for you, you can go wait down on the dock when all the tours leave and at the end they offer up tickets to those waiting around if there is space. It’s cash only and I recommend being there early since it is such a little town and the chances of you getting lost on the way there are high. It is 100% worth it…even if you aren’t a Star Wars fan. It was nesting season and the puffins were everywhere. They are probably the cutest bird I have ever seen and covered the entire place. There are tons of stairs but it is worth it for the beautiful views. Pack a lunch for the top because it is a long excursion and you will be hungry and near the end I was hangry for sure haha. There isn’t much to do on the island itself but see where the monks lived at the top and there is a guide that explains some of the structures up there but it’s such a beautiful place. If I didn’t cover your question feel free to message me and I’ll try to help you out. If you are on the fence about this excursion you should do it!

An older woman jokingly told me I was showing off for coming down the steps so fast but after Machu Picchu, stairs don’t even phase you haha.DSC_0010

Momma braved the steps even though she was freaking out pretty hard about the height. We actually saw an older lady fall on them which was pretty scary.

Serious LOTR vibes. This last picture is one of my absolute favorites.
