Boston

I have been so MIA and feel behind on so much. First off, I just wanted to touch on how sad I am about what happened in Houston and now what’s happening with hurricane Irma. It has been weighing so heavily on my heart and I honestly can’t stop thinking about it. We consider Houston one of our homes and have thought about going back there a lot lately so it holds a special place in my heart. So many of my friends have been posting pictures and it’s just heartbreaking. Then my cousins husband passed away and we were going to head down to Florida for the funeral but it was postponed due to the hurricane so our plans have been moving around a bit. I have spent my time down in Florida every year my entire life and have family down there so we have been praying in overtime not only for their safety but for everyone. I hope everyone stays safe and we will continue to do whatever we can to help out. I also got a new job at the beginning of this month and I’ve been working non stop. Good news is that I happen to love my job…bad news is that I have no time for anything else, including my huge list of fun things I want to do, but the money is so worth it. If you are in NJ and need a job let me know! Lyle said if I could save a certain amount of money that we are going to get something I have wanted for a LONG time so that has taken complete precedence for me right now. You all will find out real soon. Anyway, I requested this weekend off because I didn’t know what day I was getting tickets for NYFW and then Jeff said the “best shows” were during the week, which I did not request off for so we will see tomorrow what happens with all that. I am getting pretty excited though and hoping everything still works out, especially if we have to head down for a funeral sometime this week.

This weekend was SO needed. In the past couple weeks we got to see the Red Sox play at Yankee Stadium, see Roger Federer play at the US Open and see another game at Fenway. Seeing a game at Fenway is one of the best experiences ever and we had such good seats. We were going to stay longer and go out to Nantucket but this is the second time it hasn’t worked out so I’m starting to think it’s just not in our cards right now. It’s been one of the main things I have wanted to do while we are out here so now we will just have to stay longer I guess. We have been up to Boston several times in the last year and a half and I haven’t shared any pictures so these are pictures taken from all those times. We have some fun things/trips coming up and some more travel guides so stay tuned.

I am always trying to add fun trips and things to do…as you all know. IMG_5693

IMG_5694Start off your weekend with brunch. Two of our absolute favorite places for brunch/breakfast in Boston are Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant and North Street Grille. You can’t go wrong with either. They are both SO dang good. I recommend the cinnamon roll french toast at North Street, it’s fantastic. MAKE RESERVATIONS!

Then spend some time wandering around Boston. Acorn street is one of the cutest streets I have ever seen.

Boston in general is just so charming.

Then you can check out where the Boston Massacre took place. I love history and just discussed several points of view from this last semester so it was so cool seeing this spot.

Then you can head over to Mike’s Pastry and you definitely should. It’s cash only and an amazing bakery. Hands down my favorite cannoli is the chocolate mousse. Hands. Down. They do have tons of other amazing treats though. I have heard the lobster tail is really good but we have yet to try that.

Last year we did the Boston Tea Party museum and that was a lot of fun.

I also recommend spending time at Faneuil Hall where they have food and shopping. This amazing apple goodness is from Boston Public market and it was phenomenal. I love places like this because there is something for everyone food wise. If you have a big group this is the place to go…or if you’re a foodie.DSC_0017DSC_0021Processed with VSCO with c6 preset

I don’t even think I need to put on here that you should see a Boston game. It’s mandatory.

This was where we ate for my birthday dinner this year. It was honestly too fancy for me but there is some amazing Italian food on the North end. Pick the smallest hole in the wall and you are good to go. We haven’t tried Legal Seafood, Regina’s Seafood or Atlantic Fish Co but those are some of the other places on my list. We usually just try one of the many Italian places.

Don’t forget to walk the Freedom trail, Paul Revere’s house, Boston Public gardens where they have the swan boats. This trip we just tried Boston Cream pie in Boston from Flour Bakery and that place was really good. The only thing I have yet to do in Boston is go paddle boarding/kayaking on the Charles River which looks so fun so maybe next time. We aren’t Boston experts and honestly it’s not one of my favorite cities but it is such a cool city with amazing history that you have to go to at least once!

XO, Cait
